True Story!!

On Tuesday evening, I took an evening nap, which was great, but I had the most horrible dream! Bascially, there were rats everywhere! I was screaming and screaming, but my housemates were just picking up the rats and it was truly horrible and disturbing. I was pretty happy to wake up, and when I did, I told my housemates about the dream. They laughed and cringed.
The next morning, I woke up and went downstairs to the kitchen, and you won't believe what I saw! A dead mouse in the mousetrap!!!! For those of you who have never seen a dead mouse, believe me when I say it is the worst thing to wake up to.

I'm telling you this story because it proves I have superpowers... my dream was totally a premonition!!! Revelation! I should quit uni and become a superhero like Kick Ass!

Just a thought.

There's This Person, In My Head

There's this person, inside my head.
She is brilliant, capable, talented
She forgives quickly, and loves endlessly
She is hardworking and honest
She is patient, kind
She isn't afraid of the future
She will be successful
She is me, only so much better

Human nature is a funny thing
Our own potential frightens us
Being ordinary is far easier than being extraordinary.

Strive to be that person in your head.

Home Comforts

As a kid, did you ever have a certain film that you would watch over and over again? For me, it was The Little Mermaid. I could watch that film endlessly and never tire of it.

My taste in films has evolved (slightly), but throughout my life, there have always been, and always will be, movies that I will watch over and over again: The Little Princess, Save The Last Dance, Cinderella Story, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Whats Eating Gilbert Grape, Adventureland, and more recently, Zombieland.

This isn't true only of films, but of books, music, and food too!

We aspire to be different and adventurous, to be willing to try new things, but I think everyone finds comfort in the familiar.

Grey's Anatomy

Aside from the ridiculously hot Mark Sloan (HOT), Grey's Anatomy, suprisingly, has some pretty relevant words of wisdom:

"You know how when you were a little kid and you believed in fairytales, that fantasy of what your life would be, white dress, prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill. You would lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, prince charming, they were so close you could taste them. But eventually you grow up, one day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears. Most people turn to things and people they can trust. But the thing is its hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely cause almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day they will open thier eyes and it will come true"

"I heard its possible to grow up - I've just never met anyone who's actually done it. Without parents to defy, we break the rules we make for ourselves. We throw tantrums when things don't go our way, we whisper secrets with out best friends in the dark, we look for comfort where we can find it, and we hope - against all logic, against all experience. Like children, we never give up hope..."

"Pain, you just have to ride it, hope it goes away on its own, hope the wound that caused it heals. There are no solutions, no easy answers, you just breathe deep and wait for it to subside. Most of the time pain can be managed, but sometimes the pain get you where you least expect it... Pain, you just have to fight through, because the truth it you can't outrun it and life always makes more"

Oh The Weather Outside Is Weather

I Love the sun's ability to make everything seem better.

Its been one of those weeks where my mood has been ridiculously temperamental, and everything and everyone has been irritating me. But, the sun has been shining beautifully this weekend, and all my silly little issues have been dissolved by the light; at least temporarily anyway.

I've just finished watching the most recent episode of Glee which has improved my mood drastically, Yay!
I wish it was sunny year round! I think I'd be a nicer, happier person for it.

Story Time!

Once upon a time, there was a girl called Leighan, and she missed her bestest buddies terribly. So, in order to give them something silly to read and aid them in their procrastination, she decided to start writing a blog.
Her blog was ok, pretty average, but nevertheless, her buddies found amusement in it.
Then, one horrible day, Leighan ran out of inspiration and so decided to write the pointless, futile, shitty story that you find yourself reading right now, with the hope that soon, she would be able to write something witty and fun
The. End.

The morals of this story:
- Do real work, instead of writing shit on the internet.
- Inspire yourself

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Kick Ass!!!! I LOVE YOU!

After months of waiting to see this film, I finally took a trip to the cinema to see Kick Ass, and it really didn't disappoint! That film is fucking awesome!!!!

Everything, from the characters, to the graphics and stunts, to the soundtrack, was completely on point. Definitely the best film I've seen all year

"I can't fly, but I can kick your ass"

"Fuck this shit, I'm getting the bazooka!"

I'm going to see that again, and soon!

"Why Do We Fall?"

Exam time is quickly rolling around yet again, and so I'm beginning to reflect, yet again, on exam time two years ago: A Level exams.
I fucked up my A Levels royally and was really upset about it. But, I tried not to dwell too long on my epic failure. I ended up completely changing courses and don't regret it for one second. Now I'm studying English Literature and loving it! So, while I'm sorry I didn't try hard enough during exams, I'm not sorry that its lead to the place I am now.

"Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up."

Ain't Nothin' Gonna Change

People always want to change.

People always say they want to change.

If there is something you want to change, don't sit around telling people about it: in the words of nike, Just Do It.

To change one's life:

- Start immediately,

- Do it flamboyantly,

- No exceptions.

"If you don't like something, change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it"

"If nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies"

"Tell Me What You Want, As Fast As It Comes To You"...

I wish...

. I could teach the world to sing

. The good didn't die young

. I could play the guitar

. There was an endless supply of books available to everyone

. Music was better than it currently is

. You could trust everybody

. Everybody started a blog (it's fun :D )

. I could sing forever

. Men like Zac Efron and Josh Hartnett were normal people living in England

. Magic and fairies were real

. I could be in a real Glee club

. I could remember all my awesome dreams

. I had an endless supply of films

"I hope to live as I will wish I had when I'm dying"

"I wanna be a good person"

"If you ask people what they've always wanted to do, most people haven't done it. That breaks my heart"

"We would often be sorry if our wishes were gratified"

Book Envy

Went shopping with mummy today and we took a little trip to my favourite shop in the world: Waterstones! It is pretty pricey but it has everything, and is therefore worth it.
Anyway, whilst there, we saw some pretty interesting books that I have to buy.
The first, was called "New Moan", the first book in the Twishite Saga, written by Stephfordy Mayo (no, I'm not making this up, I swear). It sounds hilarious, and with characters called Heffa Lump and Teddy Kelledy (Bella and Edward) and lines like "I want to bite you Heffa, I want to bite you very hard. I'll be gentle, I promise. If you really loved me, you'd let me", it sounds like a must read. It also got me thinking about the Twilight phenomonen. I'd be a liar if I said I didn't love the Twilight books, but the more times I read them, the more I come to realise that the books are really poorly written. Bella is the most irritating character in fiction to date, and I know we're meant to empathise with her and love her oddities and awkwardness, but, seriously Stephanie Meyer, what were you thinking?!?!? She is a class A twit! I think the attraction to the Twilight Saga is undoubtedly the characters of Edward Cullen and Jacob Black. Even though Edward if a possessive, blood sucking fiend, I still want one, and that attraction to him is what makes Stephanie Meyer a lot of money.

The second book I cam across which interested me was entitled "LOVE" and basically was a collection of spur-of-the-moment photos depicting love in its many forms. I just thought it was really beautiful, and there were some stunning images in them. I especially loved the images of older couples, still very much in love. We are so arrogant in our plight to stay young, that we forget that the greatest gift of all is being able to grow old with the person you love most.

The third book was a big guide to Mythology. I wanna become an expert on Greek mythology, so thats the book I chose to buy.... but fear not, I will soon add "New Moan" to my library.

Oh Gods

I went to see Clash of the Titans last night.... Wasn't overly impressed with the film. The 3D effects were sparse and underwhelming, and Sam Worthington, who played protagonist Perseus, inspired a less than enthusiastic reaction from me: He was cool in Avatar, but this was not a good role for him.

The only decent thing about the film really was its use of greek mythology, and the idea that the multiple gods meddle in earthly business and take a trip there whenever it suits them... odd.

And speaking of God, Happy Easter!! xxx

Pixar, Please!!!!!

As of last year, it has been my lifelong dream to work for Pixar, Sheree knows what I'm talking about. I really wanna be able to say "Hi. I'm Leighan, and I work for Disney Pixar as a writer!" I even went on thier website and got majorly excited about their student programmes.

Unfortunately for me, Pixar only hire animators, computer techs, engineers etc. etc. I'm not very good at that sort of stuff.... Guess thats a dream that isn't going to come true.... bad times indeed.
On a brighter note, I'm majorly excited for Toy Story 3.!

Gleek, Officially

Oh Glee, how I love you so!

I don't know if its because of the endless musical numbers, the undeniable campness, or the hotness of some of the guys (I'm thinking Will, Finn and Puck, but mostly Puck), but Glee has got to be one of the most addictive TV shows around! I just cannot get enough of it. To be honest, the characters are completely stereotypical characters - annoying geek Rachel, wheelchair geek Artie too-much-attitude black girl Mercedes (I mean, the name says it all), dumb jock Puck, bitch cheerleader Quinn, overly camp gay Kurt - but I forgive them, because it works. If you haven't ever watched Glee, shame on you!! Get involved, because, seriously, you're missing out.
Looking forward to the second part of the first series ALOT!! :D
